A museum near your home is looking for people to do part-time voluntary/unpaid work. You would like to do some voluntary work at the museum.

Write a letter to the museum director to apply for the voluntary work. In the letter;

  • Explain why you want to do unpaid work at the museum.

  • Describe some skills and qualities you have that would be useful.

  • Give details of when you would be available for work.

Dear Sir,

Through an advertisement in the ‘New Times’ newspaper, I came to know that your museum is having a week-long annual exhibition on the theme of Egyptian History and your management is looking for some volunteers to work there. Here, I would like to take this opportunity to convey my interest in the same.

The reason I have a keen interest in taking his opportunity is that Egyptian History has always fascinated me since I was in high school. Moreover, I have a good amount of prior knowledge in this area of history which certainly will be helpful for the management as well as the visitors to the museum. Along with that, I am really good at communication skills and on top of that, I am willing to do this job for no benefits in return throughout the exhibition.

Since it is my summer holiday I am not completely occupied with any commitments of work or study, which enables me to work at this voluntary work for all days 9 am to 5pm.

I will highly appreciate it if you consider my request on this.

Yours faithfully,

John.
