Describe a tradition in your country.
You should say-
What it is?
Who takes part in it?
What activities are there?
And explain how you felt about it?
India is a versatile country in terms of religion, culture, and race.
Every religion or community has a lot of traditions that they religiously follow.
One such tradition is ‘lighting earthen lamps on the night of “Diwali”.
This tradition is followed by all Indians especially the personages who belong to the Hinduism and Sikhism communities.
Both religions have their own cultural importance related to this tradition.
Hindus light the lamps in respect of their Lord Rama since he came back to his hometown “Ayodhya” after 14 years of exile.
His stepmother banished him from the land as she wanted her son to ascend the throne instead of Rama.
He was accompanied by his beloved wife “Sita” and his stepbrother Lakshman.
But during his stay in the forest, his wife was kidnapped by the evil king of Shri Lanka named Ravana.
However, Rama accumulated his army and fought with the evil king and eventually won and he took his wife back and came back to his home.
And it was the night of supermoon so mortals lighted the whole pathway with the help of lamps to showcase their happiness and respect towards their king.
Apart from this Sikhs celebrate it as the symbol of victory of the 6th guru over the Mughal rulers when the Guruji set 52 kings free from the imprisonment of the Mughal ruler.
They renamed it “Bandichod Diwas”.
Every year on the eve of the Super moon night of the month of October or November, People pay homage to their respective Gods in the temples and offer sweets in front of the idols and the holy book
They also decorate their houses beautifully with artificial lights.
After coming back from the shrine they light earthen lamps in front of their houses in order to take away the darkness of the night.
This is one of my favorite festivals also known as the festival of lights.
I love to decorate my house with the lights and light my terrace of the house with lamps and candles.
I also love this festival because of the special treats I receive on this day and enjoy to the fullest with my family and friends.
I also believe the concept of this tradition as the victory of good over evil and look forward to next year’s festival.
