With the rise of E-books comes the decline in paper books. Some people see this as a good step forward while others do not. What are the advantages and disadvantages of E-books?

The era of digital gadgets has provided mankind with number of facilities, out of that list one thing is the transformation of hard copy books to E-books. This change has been perceived by some individuals as a growth move whereas others deny to this. This essay will discuss two key benefits of soft-copy based books as accessibility ease and maintenance free while the major drawbacks associated are serious involvement quotient is less and make people more device-oriented.


Taking into consideration the two principal merits of E-books, irrespective of the place they can be accessed anywhere and no physical maintenance is needed at all. First benefit is, such books provide the liberty to demons that they can read them anytime and anywhere. For example, all leading book publishers around globe are launching books with hard and soft copy editions, reports ensure that market share of digital books is spreading consistently because they don’t require specific location and atmosphere to read. Another powerful plus factor is, unlike physical books, they don’t need bulky almirahs and rigorous management system to manage them. Such as, in all smartphone adequate storage is given where electronic books can easily be stored as in a storage space like 1 GB countless books can be stored. Hence, these two positives of E-books make them inescapable part of present generation.


While the flip side includes aspects like the actual engagement ability of digital books is considerably much less and constraint that one has to be with electronic device every time. The level of involvement that a physical book offers is way more than an electronic book due to that even today all serious learner’s go for buying hard copy editions. For example, among religious book readers still the volume of sales of physical books is stronger than digital ones. Additionally, to be with E-books demand constant availability of smartphone or laptop that inadvertently impact eye-sight and forces people to stick to gadgets for longer periods. A study shows that availability of digital books have become a key reason to allow people to be glued with their smartphone screen for extended durations that invites various health issues. Therefore, such factors motivate us to write E-books are harmful too.
