In many countries, paying for things mobile phone (cell phone) apps are becoming increasingly common.

Does this development have more advantages or more disadvantages?

In a large number of nations, mobile phone applications are being commonly used to pay the money. It has certainly more merits than demerits. Its primary positives are, it helps people to not carry cash all the time as well as it makes all transactions on record. While its only limitation in my eyes is, it invites sometimes monetary fraudulent.

First of all, paying through apps does not involve the headache of carrying cash all around. Such as, traditionally most of the people have been using cash as a mode of payment for all their purchases but modern way is entirely different, here we do not a single currency note to carry in our pocket. For example, every time I buy something, I pay through UPI payments which is totally stress-free. Hence, you need not to carry cash everywhere, it’s a freedom provided by digital transactions these days.

Another advantage of paying electronically is, it keeps all the cash flow on record, means to say, whatever money is coming or going is on white papers. To stretch it further, most of the business owners do not reveal their actual income since they take money via cash but when payment is done through digitals means, they become helpless and eventually have to show the actual money they made in a particular fiscal year. For example, nowadays even all the small or big shop keepers are accepting money digitally from their customers, which makes whole the system financially transparent and legitimate. Therefore, paying with apps makes the transactions on paper and visible to all.

On contrary, sometimes such transactions pave the way for unwelcoming experiences in payments. To illustrate it more, what happens when a person uses his card or UPI mode, his details if somehow sticks to the other person or any other third party so later those details can be used without permission of original owner of the card and operate the transactions further. Exempli gratia, last week I realized that my credit card without my permission was used to pay for some purchases, it was highly disappointing however later on bank officials and cyber-security police have discovered the real mind behind this unauthorized transaction and helped me getting my money back. But it was a kind of unnecessary fight, if cash mode is there, such events cannot occur. Ergo, digitally payments are highly sensitive and sometimes can cause frauds to happen.

This essay has discussed two imperative reasons why digital payments are in the trend today along with this, it has also presented a demerit of such trend.
