In many countries today, crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular.



Why do you think that these books and TV shows are popular?

What is your opinion of crime fiction and TV crime drama?

Sample answer:

At present in several nations, there is an increasingly popular trend of going through the crime literature as well as Television content about crime. This essay will discuss why such content is getting famous among people such as it gives people a food for thought as well as negativity and nastiness sell better. Lastly, my opinion about this, such content should be allowed to produce in limits since it promotes nothing of quality.



First and foremost reason, why such content is having a widespread reach since crime literature or crime TV series provide individuals a food for thought. Means to say, when a person watches content of this kind, he immediately starts to contemplate about what is going to happen next, what will be the end result and who will be the guilty one? For example, I also like to watch such content due to the reason, it keeps me aware and alert throughout the story line like what is going to happen next? Hence, because it arises curiosity among viewers, it is popular among them.



Second factor that motivates me to write about popularity of crime dramas is, in the society we live today, negativity and things that radiates skepticism sell better rather stuff that promotes well-being and positivity. History of mankind shows that there has been a negativity bias in individuals that let them catch negativity easily and leaving behind positivity in a situation. For example, in Bollywood and Netflix, I have personally seen that crime related content automatically gets viral whereas a movie that evangelizes about a creative or positive message sometimes finds it hard to get sufficient viewers. Hence, negativity itself sells and promotes itself effortlessly, this pushes the growth of crime content.



Finally, as per my opinion, society learns nothing positive or constructive about ways of living life or earning bread and butter in better way from such crime serials even at it worst, such content forces people to start doubting on each other’s intentions even in day-to-day life. For example, in my friend circle, I have realized that people who endlessly and relentlessly consume crime content, tend to doubt more even in most authentic situations because they have been programmed in such a manner by this content. Ergo, there should be a strict check and limit on production of this kind of TV content since it only satisfies curiosity of mind by giving nothing useful in return.

This essay has discussed two strong reasons why crime literature has becoming popular day-by-day among its consumers and I have also presented my personal view about this kind of content.
