Some people think that a person improves intellectual skills better when doing group activities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

A section of society tend to believe that an individual really fosters his cognition levels when getting engaged in group tasks. This essay will discuss that why I largely own this notion and why I partially discard this opinion.

The primary reason behind my agreement is, at the time of team-tasks every one helps each others knowingly and unknowingly which as a result escalates mental abilities of each participant. Such as, in academics settings, often 4 to 5 students are allowed to work on a project where they grow together and assist mutually to expand their mental horizons. For example, I vividly remember during my senior secondary exam preparation, I was preparing along with my three best friends, each had their own skills but collectively everyone helped others to gain the syllabus easily and quickly. Thence, mutual growth of mental abilities is accelerated while performing groups tasks rather doing things individually.

Another reason why I accord the idea is, unlike individual assignments, group activities allow each participant to deeply involve in work and gain optimum outcomes. Such as, May be a single person doing a task feel boring or disinterested after a while but on the contrary if he does the same in a group then his energy, motivation and involvement level will be higher. For example, I have a personal experience of this like whenever I study with others, I ask more questions, I understand things widely and I tend to solve things readily because everybody stimulates me to go deep in and all in. Ergo, group tasks render deeper engagement levels on mental scales.

Whereas, there is a powerful saying that power of a group is equal to power of the weakest member of the group. Such group activists are only fruitful if each member is having a potential and curiosity to grow and question and challenge the status quo but if group member emphasise more on passing time and distract others from the task, then it will be debilitating and devastating for overall understanding and outcome of the group. For example, when in a team of 5 people, 4 are highly likely to play and have fun during work time, ultimately it will be apocalyptic to the final culmination of the team. Thus, group activities are sometimes hurt the productivity and cognitive abilities.

This essay has discussed that how group activities are helpful to raise mental levels of participants while it also discussed that if group members possess abilities below a certain level then it could be catastrophic either.
