Dear IELTS takers worldwide,
Hope you must be doing well in your IELTS preparation, to help you in scoring optimum we time to time provide you relevant stuff. Today, one of the genius students Mr. Ajay Bura had an interaction with Team Millennium and some of the key insights came out from the interaction, those are being shared with you:
Here are the master strategies that efficiently work in reading module:
NOTE: The whole reading revolves around synonyms.
1. Lets talk about fill in the blanks, in 90% cases, all the fill in the blanks given in a paragraph type of questions are found in any two consecutive paragraphs. Students no need to read the whole passage to find answers for blanks.
2. If you found the first answer anywhere in the passage then start carefully reading that passage the next lines where you found the answer. because 8 to 10 lines approximately may contain the answer of 3 to 4 question of the fill in the blanks type question.
Note: If you find the first answer then the answers fro next following questions will be in the next lines of the body passage where you find the first answer.
3. For example: if you find the first answer in any line of the paragraph and also find the third answer in the following lines then answer of the second must lie in between that contains the answer of 1 and 3. Same case will be followed in True-False type of questions.
4. For heading based questions: Most of the students find it difficult to answer, this type of question purely solved by synonyms of the keywords given in the series of options. Synonyms like commercial is equal to business/ money/ wealth/ sale. Depletion is equal to degrade, endangered, demolish, scarcity, extinct, decreasing etc.
5. If you find a question which has keywords like methods, types or characteristics then must look at the paragraph in which more than one points are given with using comma (,) in between them. That paragraph will be your answer for that question. Because more than one characteristic will be given in the form of points in the paragraph. Do not try to read the paragraph thoroughly in the first attempt. In the first attempt, you can underline the keywords which shows the trend in any thing or the result of any research given or the problems faced by anything etc.
6. True-False / Yes-No type of questions,
The answers for these questions surely be given in the same trend in question numbers. As i discussed earlier in the last line of fill in the blanks.
Note: Remember the keyword only if given in the question because this word will tell you that the answer will be no or not given. (For example: in the paragraph if it is given, the drug is found in south america and in the question the given line is, the drugs is only found in north america then the answer will be not given.)
NOTE: If in the paragraph, if the exact line of question or the synonyms of keywords in question line are not mentioned clearly in the paragraph then the answer will be not given.
NOTE: In most of the cases the first question of true false lies in the first paragraph, (mostly first paragraph does not contain any type of answers except True-False)
NOTE: In some cases question based on a process or chart are mostly found in paragraph based on science and technology passages. all the answer of these type of questions (3 to 4 questions) may be puzzling but given in the only one paragraph of the passage.
