IELTS WRITING LATEST TASK 2 (LIFESTYLE BASED TASK)

28 March 2018

In many cities today, people live in large apartment blocks. Does this kind of accommodation have more advantages or disadvantages?

Solved Answer

It is seen these days, people are choosing to live in vertical houses that offer them a different kind of facilities. Everybody has their own viewpoint on this ongoing trend. As i see this, i figure out that it has more disadvantages. Even, some of the drawbacks are hard to replace.

Taking the first and foremost flaw of this lifestyle, clearly, it creates an independent identities among large families. As a result, people tend to live separately just to get extra freedom from their elders or extended families. This leads to a distance between their relationships with family members. For example, these vertical homes give a small family a kind of separate world that is totally cut off from their previous world. Adding more heat in to it, due to this type of homes, normally, people avoid living with their aged parents just to avoid their frequent interruptions in their routine work. This creates an abrupt situation for grey population since they are not in a condition where they can live a self-sustained life. As a whole, the family tree goes narrower.

Furthermore, self-centered life is another major product of such homes, as, they promote individuality and people stop caring about their neighbors and start living only under their boundary walls. These days, stress, depression, distance among neighbors are some common outcomes of this scenario. On the other hand, Indian legacies are of different kinds, they focus more on joint families with horizontal homes, where a culture of togetherness and mutual respect is always noticed. By adopting to vertical homes, people are going away to their traditional riches which is a huge loss in long term. All it is done on name of westernization where out traditional robbery is taking place and by mistake, we give it a name of 21st century development. Hence, the culture enhances the separation among families.

Giving a final shape to the content, i must admit that vertical homes have a catastrophic effect on family strength and gives a food to individuality of people by putting the culture of having elders at home at risk. Such developments must be treated carefully with a long term perspective.
